This updated report provides comprehensive information about your drinking water quality and the ongoing efforts by the water system to provide safe drinking water to all residents. This corrected report replaces any previously issued versions. We encourage all residents, especially those who may have reviewed an earlier version, to examine this updated report for the most accurate and current information.

Specific Corrections in this Version

This corrected report addresses two key updates:

  • The dates for the Unregulated Contaminant Monitoring Rule (UCMR) for PFAS compounds and Lithium have been corrected to reflect samples collected on March 9, 2024, and September 9, 2024, instead of 2025. None of these compounds were detected.
  • The link to complete the lead service line inventory survey for households, along with office hours and address, which was inadvertently omitted in a previous version, has been re-included in this report.

The City of Loogootee’s drinking water is sourced exclusively from groundwater, utilizing six wells. Throughout 2024, the water system consistently tested a minimum of three samples per month for microbiological contaminants and collected disinfectant residuals to ensure control of microbial growth.

The report details various regulated contaminants that were detected, including Chlorine, Copper, Lead, Total Haloacetic Acids (HAA5), Total Trihalomethanes (TTHM), Barium, Fluoride, Nitrate, and Radium-228. All detected levels were found to be within established regulatory limits.

Loogootee Water Works did note one procedural violation during the reporting period: a "SAMPLE SITING PLAN ERRORS (RTCR)" on February 20, 2024. This indicates a failure to develop or revise a coliform sample siting plan in compliance with the Revised Total Coliform Rule. It is important to note that this was a planning deficiency and not a direct contamination event or health effects violation. The report confirms that no unresolved significant deficiencies were identified during this period.

Additionally, Loogootee Water Works participated in the U.S. EPA Unregulated Contaminant Monitoring Rule (UCMR) program. Water samples were collected on March 9, 2024, and September 9, 2024, for 29 PFAS compounds and Lithium, with none of these compounds being detected. This monitoring assists the EPA in determining if additional compounds may need to be regulated in drinking water.
